Wireless internet router and adapter question?

I got a virus in my computer and now my wireless internet adapter isnt working (which I would assume that the virus got to it). Anyways, my mom got me a new adapter (which we had the brand netgear before, this one is a different brand). Will it matter if the adapter is a different brand from the router?

The wireless adapter brand does not diffrer , they will will be compatable with Wireless Standards – 802.11b 802.11a 802.11g or 802.11n and most likely backward complateble.

In your case the real worry is not not adapter but the virus.
