Maintenance Tips For Outdoor Gas Grills

If you use a gas grill for your outdoor cooking, here are some maintenance tips that will help you prolong the life of your grill.

 

- Each time that you have finished cooking with your gas grill you need to check for damage to the flexible gas hose. If any, make sure you replace it with a new hose.

 

- It would be a good idea to familiarize yourself with the basic maintenance tips that are provided in the instruction manual.

 

- You will have to check the metal tubes found under each burner. You may find there are spiders and other insects in these tubes and unless you get rid of these they could cause a blockage.

 

- If there are any parts of your grill made from aluminum you should avoid using harsh chemical products and metal cleaning utensils. Instead, use plastic scouring pads, scrubbers and dishwashing liquid.

 

- Remove the removable parts of the grill and soak them along with the grill in hot water and dishwashing liquid. Any build up of grime should be scrubbed away using a rag, plastic scrubber or sponge.

 

- The porcelain grills should be removed from the grill and either run through the dishwasher or scrubbed clean using a brass wire brush.

 

- Every year you should replace the lava rocks in your grill. If this is not possible, at least boil them in soapy water to remove grime build up.

 

- All gas openings should be taped shut and using hot, soapy water and a rag, plastic scrubber or sponge, clean the inside and outside of the grill. Hose down the grill after you have cleaned it with soapy water and then make sure you let it dry completely.

 

- Use vegetable oil to rub on the grill to stop it from rusting and to prevent a build up of moss on any wooden parts of the grill, you will have to rub it down with linseed oil.
