How can we use dv digital camera as webcam with mac that doesn’t have firewire?

Looks like pretty complicated question, but I just happen to have a powerbook G4 without firewire and heard that with firewire we can use dv digital cam as webcam with mac. Would go to apple store to ask this but felt that they don’t always know necessarily better.

The short Answer is that you cannot. Your Powerbook G4 should have FireWire though. My G3 iBook has FireWire built in and I am pretty sure that the Powerbooks that came out after it have FireWire built in. Its possible that you need to use an adapter in order to get the The Powerbook should have one six pin FireWire 400 connector on it, and its possible that your DV cam uses a smaller 4 pin FireWire or iLink connector. There are several companies that make 6 pin to 4 pin cables and adapters.
