Understanding Internet Marketing
Internet marketing is one of those things that pretty much everyone things that they understand completely. Many people also think that Internet marketing is easy to put up and is automatically successful. While a well placed Internet ad or marketing campaign can be very profitable, most Internet marketing ideas fall through, or don’t work all that well. Part of the reason for this is the fact that the Internet as well as Internet marketing is a field of rapid change. It is hard to keep up with the latest fads and best software. The other problems is, your viewer may not be keeping up with the latest technology either. These are only some of the complications with Internet marketing. We will take the time to cover a few more, but also talk about the huge advantages of it as well and give steps that you can take to learn more and end up fully understanding Internet marketing.
We spoke of the changing technology aspect of the Internet and of computers in the previous paragraph. The times that this becomes a problem is when you are battling other company’s ads or websites. It’s true that a more interactive website not only looks better, but will keep more people there longer. This is also true with ads. The more appealing they look or creative, the more likely people are to follow them. This is why more and more companies are heading outside of themselves to hire professional website designers. However, they do need to be careful when laying everything out and choosing how elaborate they want their site to be. The reason for this is because more and more people are using mobile phones or hand-held computers these days. This means that the large websites will take much longer to load with their connection and memory. This will obviously hold true for people who still have the older computers and slower Internet connection as well. When a website takes too long to load, many people will simply give up on it. So you see that there is a delicate balance that most Internet marketing plans need to follow.
The other things that many Internet marketing campaigns have to fight with is trust. There are hundreds of thousands of links and websites and banners promising different things or selling different products so one more means almost nothing to the average Internet user. You will not be able to build trust with customers by showing or demonstrating your products, because everyone knows about video editing and photoshop. The only way to obtain trust is to be excellent to the customers you do get, and then hope that they spread the word. This process is slow and can be frustrating, but that’s the way it goes.
There are obvious up sides to the world of Internet marketing as well. Most of these are common sense, but we’ll go through them anyway. Advantages like instant connection to your customers and they to you. This means you don’t have wait for fliers or television ads to get to them, and they don’t have to try and remember your company name. It is immediate gratification. Another huge advantage is how cheap it can be done. Sure, hiring a professional won’t be cheap, but you don’t need to do that either. You can make your own site and ads. This means almost no money up front and even when you do have to pay, it isn’t much. The last perk we’ll cover is the global nature of Internet marketing. You can instantaneously reach anyone, anywhere in the world. This is a powerful tool.
If you have a hard time understanding Internet marketing, you should educate yourself. This is especially important if you are business because you could be missing out on a huge market. Taking classes or going to seminars is an excellent way to learn the advantages, disadvantages and the techniques behind Internet marketing.

The Shallows- How The Internet… $109 In this ground-breaking and compelling book, Nicholas Carr argues that not since Gutenberg invented printing has humanity been exposed to such a mind-altering technology. The Shallows draws on the latest research to show that the Net is literally re-wiring our brains inducing only superficial understanding. As a consequence there are profound changes in the way we live and communicate, remember and socialise – even in our very conception of ourselves. By moving from the depths of thought to the shallows of distraction, the web, it seems, is actually fostering ignorance. The Shallows is not a manifesto for luddites, nor does it seek to turn back the clock. Rather it is a revelatory reminder of how far the Internet has become enmeshed in our daily existence and is affecting the way we think. This landmark book compels us all to look anew at our dependence on this all-pervasive technology. |

But none of the books, articles and websites approach the topic with the upbeat, prescriptive perspective that Mike Dooley, bestselling author of Notes from the Universe and Infinite Possibilities brings to the topic in 2012: Prophecies & Possibilities. This live recording captures an evening with Mike Dooley in which he shares what the prophecy makers actually “saw” concerning the year 2012, what’s already happening in the world, the biggest hurdle now before each and every one of us, and five tips for thriving amidst great change.

With the same insightful, inspiring style that distinguished him as a teacher in the global phenomenon The Secret, Dooley expands the discussion of 2012 to include the concepts of:
• the evolution of consciousness
• inner and outer storms
• how we got to this crossroads in time
• understanding our supernatural powers and responsibilities
• how to engage life’s magic and leverage the forces of change
that are already sweeping the globe!

2012 is fast approaching, and Mike Dooley wants us to recognize that moments of great change offer the greatest possibilities, but it is up to us to see the positive power of these moments and seize those opportunities. |

2030: Technology That Will Change the World $29.95 Imagine living in 1958, and knowing that the integrated circuit—the microchip—was about to be invented, and would revolutionize the world. Or imagine 1992, when the Internet was about to transform virtually every aspect of our lives. Incredibly, this book argues that we stand at such a moment right now—and not just in one field, but in many. In 2030, authors Rutger van Santen, Djan Khoe, and Bram Vermeer interview over two dozen scientific and technological experts on themes of health, sustainability and communication, asking them to look forward to the year 2030 and comment on the kind of research that will play a necessary role. If we know what technology will be imperative in 2030, the authors reason, what can we do now to influence future breakthroughs? Despite working in dissimilar fields, the experts called upon in the book – including Hans Blix (Head of the UN investigation in Iraq), Craig Venter (explorer of the human DNA), and Susan Greenfield (a leading world authority on the human brain), among many others – all emphasize the interconnectedness of our global networks in technology and communication, so tightly knit that the world’s major conflicts are never isolated incidents. A fresh understanding of the regularities underlying these complex systems is more important than ever. Using bright, accessible language to discuss topics of universal interest and relevance, 2030 takes the position that we can, in fact, influence the course of history. It offers a new way of looking forward, a fresh perspective on sustainability, stability and crisis-prevention. For anyone interested in modern science, this book will showcase the technologies that will soon change the way we live. |
