Weber Q 300 Barbeque Grill
The popularity of the Weber Gas Grill started with the original Q. The super-sized model is produced more for the individual who has minimal space than an individual who needs to carry the grill. At all of 83 pounds, this grill isn’t for taking on picnics. However, the grill does provide one with cooking abilities that are indirect and about the same space as a traditional, Small Gas Grill. The grill provides authentic grilling in a barbeque unit that’s easily stored and does not take up much space.
When the Q portable gas grill was introduced by Weber, they discovered that many people didn’t take the grill to the beach, but kept it on their patio. This grill was ideal for urban dwellers that did not have a yard in the back, but still had a need to barbecue. In the year 2006, Weber introduced the model Q 300. The two-burner, larger gas grill comes standard with the optional stand. The gas grill unit comes with a standard regulator and hose to hook to a 20-pound unit. The Weber Q 300 at 21,700 BTUs can go through the disposable, one-pound bottles quite fast.
The Weber Q 300 is not quite portable, but the grill is an ideal compromise between a vast full-feature barbeque grill and a portable that’s more traditional. This can make it ideal for the apartment dwellers. The design with two burners offers opportunities for indirect cooking. One burner normally runs around the grilling area edges, while another goes right down the middle. This can give the barbeque grill necessary power to heat 393 square inches of a barbeque area hot enough to cook and grill steaks, while offering you plenty more grilling versatility.
For the cost, the design of this Weber model is quite good. The conservative design is a model of practicality, as the barbeque grill does not rely on plenty of extras. This is a grill of a basic unit, which is ideal for someone who desires to barbecue items in a small area. To find out more information about quality gas grills visit: www.ibuybarbeques.com.

The Success of Open Source by Weber, Steven Edition ILL, 0 $18.99 Much of the innovative programming that powers the Internet, creates operating systems, and produces software is the result of open source code, that is, code that is freely distributed–as opposed to being kept secret–by those who write it. Leaving source code open has generated some of the most sophisticated developments in computer technology, including, most notably, Linux and Apache, which pose a significant challenge to Microsoft in the marketplace. As Steven Weber discusses, open source's success in a highly competitive industry has subverted many assumptions about how businesses are run, and how intellectual products are created and protected.Traditionally, intellectual property law has allowed companies to control knowledge and has guarded the rights of the innovator, at the expense of industry-wide cooperation. In turn, engineers of new software code are richly rewarded; but, as Weber shows, in spite of the conventional wisdom that innovation is driven by the promise of individual and corporate wealth, ensuring the free distribution of code among computer programmers can empower a more effective process for building intellectual products. In the case of Open Source, independent programmers–sometimes hundreds or thousands of them–make unpaid contributions to software that develops organically, through trial and error.Weber argues that the success of open source is not a freakish exception to economic principles. The open source community is guided by standards, rules, decisionmaking procedures, and sanctioning mechanisms. Weber explains the political and economic dynamics of this mysterious but important market development. |

The End of Arrogance by Weber, Steven; Jentleson, Bruce W. Edition ILL, 0 $23.49 Free-market capitalism, hegemony, Western culture, peace, and democracy—the ideas that shaped world politics in the twentieth century and underpinned American foreign policy—have lost a good deal of their strength. Authority is now more contested and power more diffuse. Hegemony (benign or otherwise) is no longer a choice, not for the United States, for China, or for anyone else.Steven Weber and Bruce Jentleson are not declinists, but they argue that the United States must take a different stance toward the rest of the world in this, the twenty-first century. Now that we can’t dominate others, we must rely on strategy, making trade-offs and focusing our efforts. And they do not mean military strategy, such as “the global war on terror.” Rather, we must compete in the global marketplace of ideas—with state-directed capitalism, with charismatic authoritarian leaders, with jihadism. In politics, ideas and influence are now critical currency. At the core of our efforts must be a new conception of the world order based on mutuality, and of a just society that inspires and embraces people around the world. |

Against All Enemies by Clancy, Tom; Weber, Steven Edition ABR, $17.49 For years, ex?Navy SEAL Maxwell Moore has worked across the Middle East and behind the scenes for the Special Activities Division of the CIA, making connections, extracting valuable intelligence, and facing off against America’s enemies at every turn. And then…news of a potentially devastating coalition: What if two of the greatest threats to the security of the United States were to form an unholy alliance? The Taliban is trying to exploit a Mexican drug cartel to which they supply opium as a means to bring the fire of jihad to the hearts of the infidels. It is up to Moore, and his team, to infiltrate and dismantle the drug cartel, even as they hunt for those who would bring the ultimate terror and destruction to the streets of America. In a story that races from the remote, war-scarred landscapes of the Middle East to the blood-soaked chaos of the U.S.?Mexico border, Tom Clancy once again delivers a heart-stopping thriller that is frighteningly close to reality. |

Power by Lukes, Steven Edition , 0 $20.99 What is power? Is it, as Betrand Russell suggested, the production of intended effects, or is it thecapacityto produce them? And which effects count? Or is Max Weber's definition of power as the probability that an actor in a social relationship will be in a position to carry out his own will despite resistance more accurate. What are the outcomes of power and who holds it? These are some of the fundamental questions answered in this colection of classic views of power.Steven Luke's lucid and accessible introduction on the nature of power leads to pieces by Bertrand Russell, Max Weber, Robert Dahl, Hannah Arendt, Jurgen Habermas, Talcott Parsons, Nicos Polantzas, Alvin I. Goldman, Georg Simmel, J. K. Galbraith, Michel Foucault, Gerhard Lenski and Raymond Aron. The book thus provides students of politics and sociology with all the most important readings in a key area of political theory. |

The Protestant Ethic and the Spirit of Sport by Overman, Steven J. Edition , 0 $26.49 Steven Overman explores the concordant values of the Protestant ethic, capitalism, and sport by applying German economist Max Weber's seminal thesis. Weber demonstrated a relationship between the Protestant ethic and a form of economic behavior he labeled the spirit of capitalism. The work introduces readers to the doctrines and values arising out of the Protestant Reformation, notably the strong affirmation of a calling and the influences of worldly asceticism. This account prefaces a chronicle of the Puritan experience, focusing on the framing of work and play in light of an intense unease with human pleasure and idleness. The United States is portrayed as the quintessential Protestant ethic society. The book proposes seven Protestant virtues built upon rational asceticism and the work ethic that comprise the Protestant ethic. The spirit of capitalism is presented as a derivative of this ethic and a major force in shaping American institutions, notably organized sport. The second part of the book discusses the spirit of American sport as it is manifested in values the author identifies as the American sport ethic: seven constructs that correspond to the seven Protestant virtues. Each of these constructs, e.g., achieved status, competitiveness, is examined as it has influenced organized sport. The discussion encompasses youth sport, college sport, professional sport, and American influence on the modern Olympics. The book then analyzes sport as a form of consumer capitalism. Professional baseball is highlighted as the prototype of American sport as it evolved from amateur clubs to business enterprises. |

Conflict, Identity, and Reform in the Muslim World: Challenges for U. S. Engagement $29.95 Preface by Abiodun WilliamsPolicymakers and activists in the United States, Europe, and the Muslim world today face a growing challenge of how to prevent disputes now woven into the fabric of Western-Muslim relations from splintering destabilizing political communities. Conflict, Identity, and Reform in the Muslim World highlights the challenges that escalating identity conflicts within Muslim-majority states pose for both the Muslim world and for the West, an issue that has received scant attention in policy and academic circles. This reader, which includes commissioned essays as well as work previously published or sponsored by the United States Institute of Peace (USIP), gathers in one place the latest thinking and contending analyses from a talented group of contributors. These international scholar-activists bring diverse normative, analytical, and disciplinary interests to their work. A product of USIP’s Muslim World Initiative, this volume embraces that pluralism while identifying points of convergence and difference that together point to innovative ways to improve U.S.-Muslim relations and promote Muslim-world peacebuilding. Contributors include: Mohammed Abu-Nimer • Judy Barsalou • Dorina A. Bekoe • Daniel Brumberg • Iris Glosemeyer • Pierre Hazan • Steven Heydemann • Qamar-ul Huda • Thomas H. Johnson • John W. Contested Knowledge: Social Theory Today $58.95 Contested Knowledge is a well-established text offering up-to-date perspectives on social theory by one of the most important thinkers of our time. Steven Seidman tracks the work of major figures in the field, from the classical sociologists – Durkheim, Marx, Weber – to contemporary theorists — Giddens, Foucault, Bourdieu, and Judith Butler. By exploring contemporary social theories and movements — including feminism, post-structuralism, African-American thought, and queer theory — the author provides a compelling look at sociological theory and its established canon. Contested Knowledge combines social analysis and moral advocacy, showing how social theory can and does – and sometimes doesn’t – work within the public and political sphere. Highlights of the fourth edition include a new section on globalization. A major revision of social theory has been to shift the unit of social analysis from the independent nation state or discrete-bounded society to the global or world order, and to emphasize the importance of situating key social dynamics within a wider global context. The updated version includes a new section entitled Theories of Global and World Order, offering three timely chapters, ‘Capitalism as a world order’, ‘The making of a global order’, and ‘Civilizational clash or the return of Empire?’ The book’s introduction is more in-depth and existing chapters are widely revised. With sustained historical and theoretical argument, the text successfully balances the tensions existing between philosophical, scientific, and moral modes of theorizing. The challenges and changes to the classical tradition found within current social theory are explored. Contested Knowledge is a thoughtful and rigorous, yet highly accessible and reader-friendly account of social theory. |
