Gold Futures Hit Record High, Buyers Advised To Leap In

Gold futures strike a new record as the global economic scene continues to boil with turmoil. According to Marketwatch, Gold for Dec delivery went up $ 7.20 per ounce to an all-time high of $ 1,405 early Monday on the Comex of the NY Mercantile Exchange. Monday trading saw gold futures hit a high of $ 1,407.20. Article source – Gold futures hit record high, investors urged to jump in by Personal Money Store.

Gold started by going down

Trading started Monday with a decrease of as much as $10 from Friday’s closing price on gold futures ($1,397.70 per ounce). The dollar went up in the currency value too. But dark clouds of European debt – particularly in Greece, Ireland and Portugal – massed on the horizon, giving gold prices, silver prices and even copper prices a historic lift.

Federal Reserve bond purchasing causes industry to spin

Within the next eight months, the Federal Reserve can be spending $600 billion in bonds. This has brought on many individuals to start buying precious metals rather than keeping all of their paper money. The currency values aren’t all going down. This is what Marketwatch explains. Against other paper currencies, the United States of America Dollar rose .5 percent. The euro did decline in value though. Greece, Ireland and Portugal bonds underperforming are what have brought on this.

Having another gold standard

World Financial institution President Robert Zoellick has suggested the re-institution of the gold standard ought to be a topic of serious discussion at the forthcoming G20 conference in Seoul, South Korea. A Financial times piece is where Zoellick talked about this. He said, “Employing gold as an international reference point of industry expectations about inflation, deflation and future currency values” in making an economic yardstick available. James Cordier agrees with this. He is a portfolio manager at Optionsellers.com. A standard of gold would “stabilize gold and turn what is nevertheless a thin industry into a more orderly one.” Currency values being tied to something more tangible would make the values more essential.

Silver and copper prices also shot up

They are closer to $27 an ounce now. Meanwhile, copper prices rose to $3.96 per pound in Dec delivery figures.

What role does identity play in foreign policy? How might identity impact on Japan’s relations with South Korea? This book takes identity theorizing in International Relations theory a step further by attempting to account for a resilient collective identity that informs policy makers throughout time and space. Applying this framework to Japan’s relations with South Korea enables one to account for the lingering invectives between Tokyo and Seoul despite the drastic transformation in Japanese foreign policy in August 1945.

Excerpt: Battle of Inchon – Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaThe Battle of Inchon (Korean: , Hanja: , Incheon Sangnyuk Jakjeon; code name: Operation Chromite) was an amphibious invasion and battle of the Korean War that resulted in a decisive victory and strategic reversal in favor of the United Nations (UN). The battle began on September 15, 1950, and ended around September 17. Through a surprise amphibious assault far from the Pusan Perimeter that UN and South Korean forces were desperately defending, the largely undefended city of Incheon was secured after being bombed by UN forces. The battle ended a string of victories by the invading North Korean People’s Army (NKPA). The subsequent UN recapture of nearby Seoul partially severed NKPA’s supply lines in South Korea. The majority of United Nations ground forces involved were U.S. Marines, commanded by General of the Army Douglas MacArthur. MacArthur was the driving force behind the operation, overcoming the strong misgivings of more cautious generals to a risky assault over extremely unfavorable terrain. The idea to land UN forces at Incheon was suggested by MacArthur after he visited the Korean battlefield on June 29, 1950, four days after the war began. MacArthur thought that the North Korean army would push the South Korean army back far past Seoul. He decided that the battered, demoralized, and under-equipped South Koreans, many of whom did not support the SK government put in power by the US (citation needed), could not hold off the NKPA, who also defeated the American reinforcements. MacArthur felt that he could turn the tide if he made a decisive troop movement behind enemy lines. He hoped that a landing near Incheon would allow him to cut off the NKPA and destroy that army as a useful fight… More:
