Linksys PLTK300 PowerLine Network Kit – Establish Network connections easily
Linksys is a major provider of home and small office network products. Linksys also manufactures broadband and wireless routers, consumer and small business grade Ethernet switching, VOIP equipment, wireless internet video camera, AV products, network storage systems and other products.
The Linksys PowerLine Network Kit has a single-port PowerLine Adapter, and a four-port PowerLine Adapter, which let users to easily create a network using the existing electrical outlets in their home. So it’s not necessary to drill holes in walls and climb through the attic or cellar to install network cables. Adding devices to the network is as easy as plugging a PowerLine Adapter into an electrical outlet, and connecting our Ethernet-equipped devices to the built-in Ethernet ports.
Additional devices can be connected to the same network using additional PowerLine Adapters plugged into any electrical outlet anywhere in the house. Using a separate outlet for each device, users can achieve file transfer rates of about 12-15Mbps. They can share resources like printers and storage space, and all kinds of files — music, digital pictures, and documents. With up to 85Mbps data rates, users can play uninterrupted head-to-head network computer games, and run applications like Voice over IP telephony. If users plug their Internet connected router into a Powerline Adapter, they will be able to get to the Internet from any Powerline attached computer in the house.
In short, this Linksys PLTK300 Powerline network kit is a complementary technology to Wi-Fi and is a great solution for homes with heavy steel constructions or other radio signal blocking objects.

Monster Cable PowerNet 300 and 200 Premium Pack $299.95 Why Use Powerline Networks? Powerline networks use the electrical wiring in your home, the same wiring that delivers electricity to your electronics, as Ethernet cables. This means that every outlet in your house is network ready. You will need at least two modules (or one starter pack) to set up your powerline network. Powerline networking has a number of advantages over wireless networks. While transfer speeds are not as fast when compared with a CAT5 network (PowerNet is capable of up to 200 Mbps), powerline networks are nearly always faster than today s wireless alternatives. This means less lag for online games, shorter buffer times for streaming movies and videos, and faster downloads than available on a wireless network. Additionally, there is much less of a need for network security and passwords due to the fact that your network is not being beamed to every wireless device within range. Powerline technology also has some distinct advantages over wired connections. Many homes have made the switch to broadband internet without wiring dedicated Ethernet cables into their walls. This causes people to do one of two things: Sacrifice speed by going wireless, or run wires over floors, under baseboards, and through vents. With powerline adapters, any two outlets on the same circuit breaker can share a network connection. That means your upstairs bedroom is networked to your downstairs den, and your garage is networked to your kitchen, and all without the huge expense and inflexibility of custom installation. Why Choose PowerNet? Two distinct features place PowerNet above the rest of its powerline competition. First, most PowerNet modules do not block off electrical outlets for other use. The PowerNet 200 module does occupy both slots in a grounded duplex electrical outlet, but an outlet is available on each side of the unit into which you can plug your other electronics. Second, most PowerNet models fea |
