Additional Features of Cisco E4200 that Not Exist in Previous Linksys Version!

Cisco e4200 Maximum Performance Simultaneous Dual-Band Wireless-N Router is the new router coming from Cisco which is launched in January 2011. It is the 1st router released by Linksys utilizing technology of N750.

If you still have some computers with legacy Wi-Fi 802.11b or g, they’re still suitable for the router but with maximum speeds. Your clients can connect considering that Cisco e4200 is created by the latest technology of wireless 802.11n with dual band simultaneous supports and it is compatible with the 802.11b/g legacy clients.

USB Port

Linksys e4200 features 1 built in USB port with UPnP Media Server. This is a function that can make you easy to share an external hard drive together with the users on the local network or securely access through the internet by means of VPN connection. With the built-in UPnP AV Media Server you can stream your HD media to some other media units including the XBOX, PS3, Blu-Ray players, and TV.

Sadly, you can not utilize this USB port to host a USB printer for sharing. To share the printer via the network, you must purchase different wireless print server or you can use the personal pc and configure that traditionally for print-server.

High Speeds

The router features entire 3×3 MIMO antenna array for optimum wide range and reliability. With the great speeds up to 450Mbps (for 5GHz band) and the longer length range coverage and with the addition of QoS feature, the router delivers optimum good performance wireless environment for high speed HD media streaming and smooth and rapid response gaming experience. QoS (Quality of Service) technology is the ability of the router to provide the traffic prioritization for gaming and buffering over some other information traffic.

The main difference between the former Linksys E3000 and Linksys e4200 is the speed specifications. Maximum speeds for E3000 is 300Mbps theoretically for either 2.4GHz or 5GHz bands which is often called the N600 router. As the Cisco Linksys E4200 speed is 300Mbps for 2.4GHz band and 450Mbps for 5GHz band – this is commonly known as N750 routers.

NETGEAR also released the N750 router WNDR4000 that is nearly similar specifications as the Linksys e4200. The two routers include the Gigabit WAN (1 port) and Gigabit LAN (4 ports) Ethernet interface. With Gigabit LAN slot, it is possible to link any computers with gigabit NIC enabled using Cat5e network wire for high speed wired connection.
