Marketing to Generation X by Ritchie, Karen Edition , 0

Marketing to Generation X by Ritchie, Karen Edition , 0

$13.49

For decades, advertisers have pitched their ads toward Baby Boomers, the great demographic bubble of affluent individuals born between 1946 and 1964. As Boomers became advertising and media executives themselves, this trend was reinforced. But this emphasis on Baby Boomers to the exclusion of all others marginalized a group whos purchasing dollar is becoming more powerful every year– Generation X. Advertisers and marketers can no longer afford to ignore this group, nor to appeal to Xers with warmed-over Boomer campaigns. Sixty-five million adult Xers came of age in a world radically different from the one that Boomers inherited. The decline of the economy and upsurge of divorce have made Xers more sober and cynical, yet more flexible and less ideological, about the definition of family. Although jaded by the materialistic ’80′s, they are on the whole much more comfortable with interactivity and other sophisticated technology than Boomers. Although disillusioned by the Boomer swing from activism in the ’60′s to status in the ’80′s, they are more tolerant of diversity and experiment than their forebears. Karen Ritchie, a pioneer in marketing to Xers, has produced the first serious introduction to Generation X for the advertiser. Ritchie begins by showing the significant statistical and demographic differences between Xers and Boomers in income, education, occupation, and rates of marriage and divorce. Next, she shows how the unprecedented ethnic diversity of Generation X shapes the attitudes and expectations of the group as a whole. Ritchie then takes us on a guided tour of the cultural influences that have brought Xers into adulthood, from MTV and infotainment to E-mail. Finally, Ritchie examines the buying tastes and habits of Generation X, noting that they are above all savvy, cost-conscious, and skeptical of hype. Advertisers should embrace Generation X– indeed they must, if they hope to survive into the next century. But in so doing, Ritchie suggests, they must modify existing advertising strategies to move away from Boomer fantasies and from the intrusive stereotypes that dominate current attempts to reach Generation X. They need to develop more realistic strategies that recognize both that generation’s economic clout and its impact on marketing today.

 1080p

1080p

$51

High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles! 1080p is the shorthand name for a category of HDTV video modes. The number 1080 represents 1,080 lines of vertical resolution (1,080 horizontal scan lines), while the letter p stands for progressive scan (meaning the image is not interlaced). The term usually assumes a widescreen aspect ratio of 16:9, implying a horizontal resolution of 1920 pixels. This creates a frame resolution of 1920×1080. The frame rate in hertz can be either implied by the context or specified after the letter p (or i), such as 1080p30, meaning 30 Hz. Only 1080p can be referred to as full HD or full high definition although 1080i (interlaced) is also 1920×1080 pixels. A 1080p picture, with a resolution similar to that of 2K digital cinema technology, is sometimes referred to in marketing materials as “Complete High-Definition”. However, 4K digital cinema technology is commercially available, and ultra-high definition video is in the research phase.

 A Matter Of Men

A Matter Of Men

$19.99

A Matter of Men is presented in a poetic manner, in diaphanous language with daring and innovative images, laying out the evolution of “man,” from childhood through adulthood—not defined by age but through one’s encounter with the Self. This “man” … represents all human beings…Heidi Ann García, Ph.D. Chasqui, Arizona State University A Matter of Men weaves a multi-textured tapestry of the events, challenges and preconceptions that shape the definition of manhood: from the ritual of a boy coming of age to the youth who discovers the challenges of the adult world. This collection of stories also examines an array of adult characters from all walks of life and from varied economic and social backgrounds, in an attempt to better understand the place of gender in a changing world. The world is changing at breakneck speed, yet in many respects man’s identity and sense of self-worth are defined by ancient canons. At the same time, mass media and marketing shape our tastes, dictate what we buy and guide our expectations and behavior. Benito Pastoriza Iyodo uses a cinematic approach to present and juxtapose divergent and evolving views on masculine identity, taking the reader through a range of emotions on a journey that reflects the challenging matters of men. (Bilingual Edition with Introduction by Bradley Warren Davis)

Works in this series are designed to be the practical and informative sources developers need on the methods and tools for applying object-oriented technologies to real-world, large-scale applications. We will be starting with the four books following in the catalogue, and publishing more in the near future. We will be supporting the books with space advertising, author appearances at major conferences, co-marketing with DevelopMentor, and a major publicity push.– VB from a COM data type approach: building more robust object-based systems.– Partitioning, maximizing reuse, reducing memory requirements, creating lightweight objects, and more.– By two of the world’s top VB developers — including Matt Curland, a long-time member of Microsoft’s VB development team!In Advanced Visual Basic 6, two of the world’s leading VB experts take experienced developers under the hood with VB, introducing powerful techniques for writing high-performance, reusable code that leverages the close relationships between VB, COM, and OLE Automation. This book presents advanced VB programming from a COM data type approach, helping developers build more robust, effective code — and overcome obstacles that appear as they push the envelope with VB. Developers learn how VB describes arrays, and how to duplicate that definition manually to perform simple type casting, and gain unprecedented control over how their programs use memory. The authors introduce best practices for interface-based design using normal VB class modules; show how to partition code for optimal reuse; and more. Next, they present advanced techniques for creating COM lightweight objects; and alternate memory managementtechniques that allow the creation of complex systems with many objects and minimal overhead. The book also covers threading, type libraries, component versioning, and more. The accompanying CD-ROM contains extensive source code, plus powerful utilities for advanced VB development.

To win loyal customers in this fiercely competitive market, it’s important to understand that high-quality package design is a vital element of a winning marketing strategy. “Pretty,” “cute,” and “fashionable” are buzzwords in the beauty and healthcare industry. This book presents some of the proven high-quality package designs in the field. The words “organic” and “sweets” are frequently used to entice the female demographic. A simple definition of the word “organic” describes ingredients sourced from nature. Earth tones and images from fruits, plants, the sea, and the sky are often utilized in packages to express the content of such products. The customer receives the powerful message from the package design that nature equates to peace of mind and a sense of security. By using the “sweets” approach, packages and perfumes are made to resemble cakes and desserts. For example, the Sexy Girl hand and body cream comes in fruit punch, strawberry mille-feuille, and peach tart fragrances. The packaging incorporates visuals of mouth-watering sweets for each fragrance. The approach of using packaging design to appeal to women has become a successful ploy in stimulating discussion among women and attracting the attention of female consumers. Designers and creative professionals not only in the package and product design industry but also in other fields will find this book useful as a source of creative ideas for design.

 Business Models

Business Models

$97.91

Business Models: A Strategic Management Approach by Allan Afuah represents a new kind of book. Business models are about making money and most firms are in business to make money (a profit). It is therefore no surprise that the phrase business model is increasingly finding its way into CEO speech after speech and in business school functional areas from accounting to finance to marketing to strategy. Because strategic management is inherently integrative in nature and increasingly more focused on firm performance, strategy textbooks have come closest to addressing the subject of business models, but only implicitly and partially so. Business Models: A Strategic Management Approach draws on the latest research in strategic management to explicitly and fully explore business models. It draws on the latest research on to explore which activities a firm performs, how it performs them, and when it performs them to make a profit. It offers an integrated framework for understanding the relationship between the set of activities that a firm chooses to perform, its revenue model, its cost structure, its resources and capabilities, the competitive forces in the firm’s industry, and its ability to sustain a competitive advantage even in the face of change. It provides the link between resources, product-market positions and profitshow resources and product-market positions are translated into profits. (Existing strategy texts demonstrate correlation between resources or product-market positions and profits, not their translation into profits). Additionally, it explores the relationship between business models and corporate social responsibility as well as the international component tobusiness models. It offers a definition of business models that is deeply rooted in the resource-based and product-market theories of strategy.
