Why is my wireless internet have such a bad signal from only 20 feet away?

We also got this signal booster thing but when ever i connect to it it always has limited or no connectivity, but the signal is perfect. :
any help?
If it helps i’m using a linksys wireless router and a dell wireless receiver for my desktop computer. it’s pretty old but it should be working.

I’ve run into this when users have a wireless (cordless) phone 900MHZ or higher close to the wireless router Especially if it is the base station it causes interference. Try moving the phone if it is there.
Secondly,
Try changing the channel on which your wireless router is on. COuld be overlap with other routers nearby in your neighborhood. See if that helps.
