The Basics Of How To Improve Computer Speed

Your pc slows down for many reasons – deteriorated parts, hard disk failure and bugs. But that’s the type of slow that’s normal. What we are pertaining to here is the kind of bogging down that happens so fast, it will require you to find quick fixes on how to improve computer speed right away. You can start with the following ways.

Diagnose your pc to know the problem. Causes of pc slowing down can be anything from a newly installed hardware and drivers to bloated computer registry. If you are not quite sure what is causing your computer’s speed to bog down, try to diagnose your computer.

Scan your pc for bugs. These can make your computer function much slower than its original speed. Run a malware detection program and check whether bugs are your problems. If you detect any bug in your pc, disable it immediately and check your pc further for other problems.

The next possible culprit is the connection with other computers. If your pc is connected to another computer or to a network, even f the connection is not working, its system will still look for this connection during boot up. Make sure that its previous connections are disabled. If, on the other hand, your pc is connected to an internet, try disconnecting its connection for a while and see if this will resolve your problem with speed. And while you’re at it, scan your computer’s connection to a root kit as well. Root kit is a tool that enables other computers to remotely access your pc. Anti-virus programs have the ability to detect root kits. If one is found, disconnect your computer immediately and reconnect only when you’re 100% sure that your connections are clean.

If you don’t get any result in doing these, try checking your registry or your hard disk, the problem could be lurking there. Utility tools are available for resolving problems in this area. There are also various assessment tests available online.

There are usually two types of these tests – short and long test. First, scan your hard disk with the short test. This will only last for around 2 minutes. If the short test fails to identify any problem, you may consider leaving it there or run the second test. Clearing the short test does not necessarily guarantee that your computer has no problem. To rule out the possibility that there really are problems in the registry or hard disk, run the second test.

If the tests detect problems, it is a clear indication that your pc requires immediate replacement. Consider backing up your files and start searching for a new hard disk or, if you have the budget, buy a new pc.

If you end up with the need to replace either your hard disk or pc, don’t feel bad. Take this as a good opportunity to work with a brand new pc. Also, think of it as the ultimate solution on how to improve computer speed.
