Question about wireless internet adapters/routers?

On my home computer I have cable internet. For my laptop, I bought a wireless adapter. Can I just buy a wireless router and connect it to my home internet in order to use it for my laptop? Thanks.

You buy a wireless router.

Connect the cable “modem” directly to the wireless router at the port labeled WAN or Internet, it’s usually a BLUE port.

Connect an Ethernet cable to your computer and then plug that into any of the other ports on the wireless router.

Unplug your cable “modem”. Wait 30 seconds. Turn the wireless router off. Turn both computers off. Plug the cable “modem” back in. Turn the wireless router on. Verify the “modem” is green lights across the board. Turn your computers back on and reboot them if necessary.
