I bought a new TrendNet wireless firewall router, but I can’t get my computers to connect to the internet?

I set everything up like on my old router, but my cd drive does not work so I had to set it up manually through the web browser router config page. Both computers tell me they are connected – the wired one at 100mbps and the wireless one at 10 mbps, but neither one will connect to the internet and the WLAN light on the router keeps flashing. Any ideas of what could be wrong? Please do not recommend calling my ISP because they will not help. I have called before with my old router and they said my connection was fine and if anyone came out they would charge $50 an hour. Is there anything I can do with the new router or should I send it back? Thanks!

you don’t mention what your operating system is but ill take a guess at some form of windows. ok ill have a try are both pcs in the same workgroup? do the pcs know where there going to connect to the pc. try going to a command prompt, and typing ipconfig /all this will tell you whether the router is working or not, you should get a message saying what your network address is i.e 192.168.1.0. you can also try typing netstat -r at the prompt to.

one more thing try right clicking on the network icon on the taskbar, click on open network connections, you’ll get a window come up, click on tcp/ip then advanced, look for dhcp or something similar, try typing the address of your router in as the gateway, then click ok and ok again and see what happens.

as to the wireless side are the drivers installed, if so you should see a flashing icon on the toolbar, make sure the channel on the router is the same as the channel on the adapter, also check its set to the same ssid to. hope that helps, if you get really stuck e-mail me
