I am thinking about purchasing a new HDTV. . .Do i NEED internet connectivity?

I am thinking about purchasing a new HDTV. I am browsing new models and they all seem to be internet connectible. It is obvious that this is the direction that HDTV’s are heading and ALL new TV’s will soon be internet connectible when produced. Which brings me to my question. I want my HDTV to be ready for whatever the tech world has to offer over the life of the TV (hopefully 5-10 years). So do i NEED to purchase an internet ready HDTV, or will having an internet ready blu-ray or PS3 suffice?

Hard to predict where technology will take us in the next few years, but all things being equal, I guess I would take the internet aware TV over not aware.

Being a cheap SOB, I would do without if there were a significant price difference. Currently I’m using my wifi connected bluray player for Netflix.

The one thing that doesn’t help me with is software updates for my TV if there are any.
