Hp Laptops Enable Subsequent Generation Of Mobile Warriors

Armed with a laptop computer pc, a cell phone and some good old fashioned enthusiasm, in the present day’s cellular employee has by no means been extra connected. HP’s newest line of business laptops, give you the whole lot you need to take your office on the road. On this article I will focus primarily on the HP 8710w Mobile workstation and the way I exploit this laptop to stay linked to my business at all times.

1. I fastidiously thought of my system requirements and bought the suitable HP Laptop.

Earlier than I made my system purchase, I had to determine what system requirements my new laptop computer would need to meet. Contemplating the amount of time I might be spending on this method, I wanted to ensure my new system met all of my computing needs. The following was the requirement list that I got here up with:

a. Fast Processor – To meet the demands of my business applications.
b. WiFi – To allow me to connect to available WiFi hotspots or family networks.
c. Bluetooth – Permitting the connection of wi-fi headphones, headsets, mice and keyboards.
d. Wired network port– To offer network connections the place solely wired service is available.
e. Multi format Optical Author – To allow me to share media with clients and enterprise companions in quite a lot of formats.
f. Massive high resolution display – This was essential to me, as I might be spending a variety of time staring at the screen.
g. Multimedia sound – Nice to have for watching DVD motion pictures whereas traveling.
h. Good feeling keyboard – Maybe one of the crucial missed criteria in selecting a laptop.
i. Good battery life – Affordable power management to protect battery life.
j. Cellular community card – To permit data connection to my office when no WiFi is available.

With these requirements in mind, I bought the HP 8710w cell workstation.

My first impression of the laptop was excellent. It had a stable constructed feeling and for essentially the most half was ready to go once I unpacked it. Vista was the pre-loaded operating system, which made me a bit of nervous at first. However, with the 8710’s Intel T8300 core duo processor and 2GB of RAM, it had all of the horsepower beneath the hood to run Vista and my enterprise applications with ease.

2. I put in my business applications.

Even though I planned on accessing my office computer remotely, I still wanted to have a duplicate of my enterprise purposes installed regionally on my Laptop. The principle purposes I put in included the next:

MS Workplace 2007 Professional
Microsoft Visual Studio 2008
QuickBooks Professional 2008
Adobe Artistic Suite CS3

All of these functions installed flawlessly and the new HP Laptop ran very well.

3. I put in the necessary software and {hardware} to connect with my office computer.

Now that I had my purposes installed, I had to determine how I would connect with my office computer. Since I already had a devoted Web connection on my work laptop, I made a decision to use the prevailing connection I was already paying for. This all sounded pretty simple so far. However, how was I going to get Web access where there was no WiFi or wired web entry available? Because of Dash’s latest breed of Cell Broadband Cards, this proved to be easier than I thought. I bought the Sprint AirCard 595 and a month-to-month entry plan that was comparable in worth to an average mobile phone plan. The set up was a snap and the speed was surprisingly fast. It certainly wasn’t as speedy as my cable Web at dwelling, however I found it to be each bit as quick as a median DSL connection. I also needs to mention that certain HP laptop computer models come geared up with Verizon’s Edge mobile modem built in. However, I found Verizon’s connection velocity to be much slower than Sprint’s.

With my web connection in place, the following step was to figure out what software I would want to remotely control my workplace computer. After exploring the pros and cons of VPN, Home windows Distant Desktop, Citrix and a few others, I made a decision to go along with a product/service referred to as LogMeIn.com. In a nutshell, I selected this product for a couple of basic reasons:

a. It didn’t involve opening holes in my workplace firewall.
b. It is vitally secure.
c. It permits you to entry your work laptop remotely from anyplace you’ve gotten web access.

The LogMeIn configuration was simple and inside a measly five minutes, I was prepared to offer it a test. I navigated to the LogMeIN website and entered my username and password. As soon as logged in, I saw an icon that represented my work computer. I clicked on the icon and within seconds I noticed my office pc’s desktop screen. It regarded similar to I was bodily sitting there and I had access to all of my enterprise applications.

So at the end of the day, did I earn the rank of a mobile warrior? {Two} weekends later, my family and I were heading north for somewhat camping and relaxation. My oldest son was driving and I used to be sitting within the passenger seat with my new HP laptop. With the press of a couple of icons, I was related to the Web via my Sprint Card and was working remotely on my office computer. For some reason, I was more impressed with this accomplishment than my wife.
