Check The Wireless MAC Address Of A Linksys Access Point
Checking the Wireless MAC Address of a Linksys Wireless Access Point is an easy operation. But it is very important whenever you have to extend its wireless signal by another Linksys wireless access point device such WAP54G.
Instruction 1: Connect a computer to your Linksys wireless access point.
Instruction 2: Assign a static IP address to your computer’s network adapter. To accomplish this on a windows-based computer, Open Network Connections (to do this click on Start, click on Control Panel, double-click on Network Connections), right-click on the connection you want to setup, click on Properties, under the General tab and in This connection uses the following items, click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP), and then click Properties. Finally, Click on Use the following IP address, enter the static IP address for the network adapter in the IP address field, and then click on OK.
Instruction 3: Open your Linksys wireless access point’s web-based setup interface.
Instruction 4: Once your Linksys wireless access point’s web-based setup interface appears, take note of its Wireless MAC Address. Keep in mind that you can use this wireless MAC address if you will setup the Linksys access point WAP54G as wireless repeater.
Keep in mind that you can setup a Linksys wireless-G access point as an access point, wireless bridge, wireless repeater, and wireless access point client. By default, the Linksys wireless repeater mode turns a Linksys wireless-g access point device such as WAP54G into a wireless repeater that you can use to extend the range of your wireless signal produced by a Linksys wireless router or a Linksys wireless access point on your local network. In addition, a Linksys wireless access point such as WAP54G is able to work as a wireless repeater with the Linksys wireless devices such as Linksys Wireless-G Access Point WAP54G and Linksys Wireless Router WRT54G.

Mobile Internet by Salkintzis, Apostolis K. Edition ILL, 1 $22.49 Consumers want it, businesses are demanding it. The migration of Internet services to a mobile environment is inevitable. But while the ability to be on the go and connected to the Internet sets the stage for increased efficiency and productivity, many technical challenges associated with user mobility and wireless connectivity remain.Mobile Internet: Enabling Technologies and Services addresses these challenges and thoroughly examines the cutting-edge technologies designed to meet them. Eminent academic and industry professionals explain the mobile and wireless network technologies that make mobile connectivity possible, including their respective characteristics, advantages, and disadvantages. Much of the book focuses on the mobility management techniques so necessary when the point of network attachment can change constantly. Macro-mobility and micro-mobility management protocols receive extensive attention, as do security concerns. Other key topics include interworking between WLAN and cellular networks, Internet access over WLANs, over GPRS and over satellites, multicasting, quality-of-service provisions, header compression schemes, and the problems inherent in video streaming over wireless IP networks.Little on our technological horizon is as certain or holds as much promise as the mobile Internet. This book offers a unique opportunity to become thoroughly acquainted with its context, services, and technologies. |

Building Internet Firewalls by Chapman, D. Brent; Zwicky, Elizabeth D.; Russell, Deborah Edition ILL, 1 $13.99 More than a million systems are now connected to the Internet, and something like 15 million people in 100 countries on all seven continents use Internet services. More than 100 million email messages are exchanged each day, along with countless files, documents, and audio and video images.Everyone is jumping on the Internet bandwagon. Once a haven for academicians and scientists, the Net is now reaching large and small businesses, government at all levels, school children, and senior citizens. The commercial world is rushing headlong into doing business on the Internet, barely pausing while technologies and policies catch up with their desire to go online. But, too few of the seekers after Internet wisdom and riches consider whether their businesses will be safe on the Net.What kinds of security risks are posed by the Internet? Some risks have been around since the early days of networking — password attacks (guessing them or cracking them via password dictionaries and cracking programs), denial of service, and exploiting known security holes. Some risks are newer and even more dangerous — packet sniffers, IP (Internet Protocol) forgery, and various types of hijacking attacks.Firewalls are a very effective way to protect your system from these Internet security threats. Firewalls in computer networks keep damage on one part of the network (e.g., eavesdropping, a worm program, file damage) from spreading to the rest of the network. Without firewalls, network security problems can rage out of control, dragging more and more systems down. What is a firewall? It's a hardware and/or software solution that restricts access from your internal network to the Internet — and vice versa. A firewall may also be used to separate two or more parts of your local network (for example, protecting finance from R&D). The firewall is installed at the perimeter of the network, ordinarily where it connects to the Internet. You can think of a firewall as a checkpoint; all traffic, incoming and outgoing, is stopped at this point. Because it is, the firewall can make sure that it is acceptable. Acceptable means that whatever is passing through — email, file transfers, remote logins, NFS mounts, etc. — conforms to the security policy of the site.Building Internet Firewallsis a practical guide to building firewalls on the Internet. If your site is connected to the Internet, or if you're considering getting connected, you need this book. It describes a variety of firewall approaches and architectures and discusses how you can build packet filtering and proxying solutions at your site. It also contains a full discussion of how to configure Internet services (e.g., FTP, SMTP, Telnet) to work with a firewall. The book also includes a complete list of resources, including the location of many publicly available firewall construction tools. The book is divided into four parts:Part I discusses Internet threats, the benefits of firewalls, overall security strategies, a |
