industrial marketing 2010
Major market changes in April /may 2010?

I am doing my stock project for school. I need a list and explanation of 3 or 4 major things that have caused the Dow Jones Industrial average to fall in the last month and a half. any worldly issues or anything that could have affected the stock market!

thank you!!!

The Housing Bubble started it all in 2007.

That created a debt crisis in the US.

Credit has been tightening, and remains tight. Banks are real strict now on who they will loan to and for what purpose.

The economy went into a tailspin, people began losing their jobs, and hiring has still not begun to pick up. The consumer is two-thirds or more of our economy and GDP. But the consumer has curtailed spending.

One important thing is the Fed or the Gov’t has lost all credibility in handling the debt crisis. They have not fixed anything, but created more debt and printed more paper fiat dollars to handle the debt crisis. Essentially, they have rewarded (bailed out) the people that got us into this mess. Some people made bad decisions and should have to bear the burden of those decisions, not you and me. That’s the reason there’s a bankruptcy court. They SHOULD go out of business, lose their jobs and their savings, not effect the innocent consumer. If it threatens the system, then maybe the system needs to change also, but the gov’t has no legitimate (constitutional) authority to redistribute wealth or bail out anyone. Did you know the gov’t owned half of General Motors? There is no provision for gov’t to own private industry. Did you know the Federal Reserve owns the Red Top Inn franchise?

There is an inverse correlation to the US Dollar and the Dow right now. When the USD goes up, the Dow goes down. Since the Euro is the greatest contributor to the USD index, then you could say as the Euro rises, so does the Down. But the Euro has been tanking for weeks, putting pressure on the Dow.

Marketing Theory by Hunt, Shelby D. Edition ILL, 0

Marketing Theory by Hunt, Shelby D. Edition ILL, 0

$39.49

Prepared by Hunt (marketing, Texas Tech U.) this is the 5th edition of a textbook exploring both the philosophy of marketing science and the larger philosophical debates around issues such as scientific realism, positivism, the nature of truth, and the possibility of objectivity. Perhaps the biggest change in this edition is the growth in consideration of resource advantage (R-A) theory from a brief discussion to one of four parts of the book. This reflects the growing viewpoint that R-A theory is a general theory of marketing that can also be used to study marketing strategy. More theoretical than your typical marketing textbook, it is intended for a more academic audience than undergraduate business majors. Annotation ?2010 Book News, Inc., Portland, OR (booknews.com)

Sustainability Marketing by Belz, Frank-Martin; Peattie, Ken Edition ILL, 1

$32.49

WINNER of the VHB BEST TEXTBOOK AWARD 2010!(Presented by the German Academic Association for Business Research)Sustainability Marketing: A Global Perspective provides a new sustainability-oriented vision of marketing for the twenty-first century. It has a consumer marketing focus with an emphasis on integrating sustainability principles into both marketing theory and the practical decision making of marketing managers. The book shows how the complexities of sustainability issues can be integrated into marketing decisions through a systematic step-by-step approach. The steps involve an analysis of socio-environmental priorities to complement conventional consumer research; an integration of social, ethical and environmental values into marketing strategy development; a new consumer-oriented sustainability marketing mix to replace the outmoded and producer-oriented ‘4 Ps’; and finally an analysis of how marketing can go beyond responding to social change to contribute to a transformation to a more sustainable society. Without taking such steps, marketing will continue to drive global crises linked to climate change, poverty, food shortages, oil depletion and species extinction, instead of helping to tackle them. The book is ideally suited to both students and practitioners at many different levels and disciplines including marketing, business and sustainability or environmental management.
