Is my wireless adapter causing slow internet speeds for gaming?

I currently have the Linksys WMP54g wireless G PCI adapter and i can browse the internet fine, but when i play games online, the connection seems to pause every minute or so, but then go back to a normal speed, This is only an issue on my new desktop computer, i had a laptop and the games ran fine. I was wondering whether i should upgrade the wireless adapter to The Netcomm NP902n. But before i spend money on that upgrade, i want to know if it will help my games work online faster. I know it might, because my friends has an N adapter and his works fine, so i think instead of a G, i need to get an N.
Well, is it a wise choice for me to upgrade? or is there another way out?

Upgrading to a Wireless N could be the answer however you need to make sure that your wireless on your computer supports N and that your wireless router supports wireless N otherwise it will all be for moot. If the problem is only in the one game then I would say it is a problem with the game server which you can do nothing about. I live in Asia and whenever I play online games with someone in the US it is horribly slow and laggy. And upgrading to wireless N will benefit you in everything online, not just games.
