Mobile Broad-Band could be the key to the Future of High Speed Connections
Mobile broadband has been advertised as the trendiest technology in the telecom technological world which is the turning point to the future of broadband. Recently, broad-band was available through a traditional telephone landline, high speed connection, which links to a terminal through an ADSL modem or router. Wireless broad-band is going to be very used, whereby the fast internet connection is connected to the PC terminal thanks to a wireless intranet, and internet users are ridding their homes of cables. But mobile broad-band will take internet connections one step further and offering another important step in the developing of internet connectivity; a broadband connection almost in any room without the need for a landline cable.
The option of going online with a reliable broadband line in all the house is surely an attractive idea to potential users, especially those people that often connect to internet with their personal computer not from home. Business people who regularly travel for business meetings are the main target for mobile high speed internet since they will like the chance of not having to search for a WiFi public hotspot for a reliable connection. Mobile high speed connection reaches much further than that, and as fees begin to go down and connection speeds improve it might not be long before we experience the broad band potential clients buying mobile high speed broadband.
Mobile high speed connection works by connecting a small portable modem to a laptop, generally called a ‘dongle‘, from which a PC terminal can work with whichever mobile high speed internet connection the internet users have acquired. Telecom companies are now packaging mobile high speed internet packages and coverage of the networks, which is well known as three G networks, which is nearly 90% of England.
Broadband speed is an important factor for any broadband line and mobile broadband companies a few years ago had problems to market users that a mobile broad band could match up with traditional, landline broadband. Connections are getting better, since Vodafone announcing mobile broadband lines as fast as 7.3mb, which is similar to some of the traditional landline broadband. Countries like the UK, are thinking to invest capitals in fibre optic cable networks, in an attempt to increase high speed internet line to up to 100mb.
In New Zealand a leading telecom company has announced that mobile high speed internet networks are set to develop fast in the next future and they have forecasted that mobile high speed internet will soon deliver speeds of up to 100mb by end of 2011, which coincides with the year the United Kingdom’s fibre optic network is due to be finished. This will create an important turning point in industry thinking, with the development of an efficient super fast mobile broadband connection network having serious advantages over the cabling of lots of Kms of fibre optic cables, without mentioning the practical point of view. Cisco Router and Switch Forensics by Liu, Dale Edition ILL, 0 $44.49 Cisco IOS (the software that runs the vast majority of Cisco routers and all Cisco network switches) is the dominant routing platform on the Internet and corporate networks. This widespread distribution, as well as its architectural deficiencies, makes it a valuable target for hackers looking to attack a corporate or private network infrastructure. Compromised devices can disrupt stability, introduce malicious modification, and endanger all communication on the network. For security of the network and investigation of attacks, in-depth analysis and diagnostics are critical, but no book currently covers forensic analysis of Cisco network devices in any detail. Cisco Router and Switch Forensics is the first book devoted to criminal attacks, incident response, data collection, and legal testimony on the market leader in network devices, including routers, switches, and wireless access points. Why is this focus on network devices necessary? Because criminals are targeting networks, and network devices require a fundamentally different approach than the process taken with traditional forensics. By hacking a router, an attacker can bypass a network’s firewalls, issue a denial of service (DoS) attack to disable the network, monitor and record all outgoing and incoming traffic, or redirect that communication anywhere they like. But capturing this criminal activity cannot be accomplished with the tools and techniques of traditional forensics. While forensic analysis of computers or other traditional media typically involves immediate shut-down of the target machine, creation of a duplicate, and analysis of static data, this process rarely recovers live system data. So, when an investigation focuses on live network activity, this traditional approach obviously fails. Investigators must recover data as it is transferred via the router or switch, because it is destroyed when the network device is powered down. In this case, following the traditional approach outlined in books on general computer forensics techniques is not only insufficient, but also essentially harmful to an investigation.Jargon buster: A network switch is a small hardware device that joins multiple computers together within one local area network (LAN). A router is a more sophisticated network device that joins multiple wired or wireless networks together.* The only book devoted to forensic analysis of routers and switches, focusing on the operating system that runs the vast majority of network devices in the enterprise and on the Internet* Outlines the fundamental differences between router forensics and traditional forensics, a critical distinction for responders in an investigation targeting network activity* Details where network forensics fits within the entire process of an investigation, end to end, from incident response and data collection to preparing a report and legal testimony |
