Revealed – Why Traditional Diets Don’t Work

Are you sick of trying diet after diet with not much to show for it? Why is it that so many diets fail? So many “weight loss gurus” still preach the myth that eating less will help with weight loss. In actual fact when we eat a lot less than we need we are more likely to remain the same or even gain weight. The human body is designed to interpret reduced food intake with starvation. When we constantly eat less we send our body into starvation preservation mode.

Research tells us that people who are able to maintain a healthy weight normally eat a diet that have more complex carbohydrates (such as fruits and veg, cereals etc) and most people who are overweight usually have diets that contain more fat. Being able to interpret what these studies tell us about which factors contribute to weight loss is crucial when creating a weight loss program. One of the best ways to lose weight is to start a low GI diet where you restrict the total amount of simple carbs you eat in a day, but are not too concerned about the other foods. You still need to make sure you don’t overeat, by carefully managiing your portion sizes, and make sure you get the right combination of healthy nutritious foods which should also be low in saturated fats.

Lifestyle and eating habits contribute greatly to gaining weight and the weight gain was not over night but took years to accumulate. Because gaining all that weight happened over time, it’s likely to take some time to get back to your healthy weight as well. People who haven’t figured out the balance between eating the right foods, ensuring you get lots of water, exercising and getting proper amounts of sleep are easy pickings to the marketing companies pushing the latest fad diet, lose weight pill or quick weight loss plan. You don’t need to look far to find the latest fad diet or weight loss program. Because we’ve been brought up to want and expect everything delivered to us yesterday, it’s very easy to believe that there indeed magic weight loss pills to take the weight off very quickly, than to believe that we have the capability to enhance our lives and live a healthier and longer life where obesity is the thing of the past.

Diets will fail because they do not promote a healthy balance within your body. Diets are doomed to failure because they are structured towards making the promoter or some company wealthy as against making a weight loss plan or system that will genuinely aid an individual to lose weight.

We hear everywhere that those who are overweight are prone to illnesses and other life shortening health conditions due to obesity. Excessive fat and processed carbs in your diet is one of the main contributors to unnecessary body fat.

People have been led to believe for too many years that they need to cut down on food or watch every last calorie in order to lose weight. In reality our bodies are very proficient when it has to manage weight assuming that we give them what they need to stay healthy – such as proper amounts of sleep, plenty of water, eat healthy and nutritious foods, and regular exercise.

Getting rid of those extra pounds is not only about calorie counting, you also need to avoid eating in excess. Proper portions of wholesome foods are vital to losing weight. Another vital aspect to weight loss is to make sure you get plenty of exercise. Our bodies like to be physically active!
