Oxford University Press Selects iFactory’s PubFactory Platform to Develop Oxford Dictionaries Online

BOSTON, MA–(Marketwire – January 14, 2010) – iFactory, an award-winning web design and development firm, today announced that Oxford University Press (OUP) has chosen iFactory’s new online publishing development platform, PubFactory, to develop Oxford Dictionaries Online, a new global modern English dictionary and language reference service. OUP, a major provider of online reference and scholarly content to libraries, turned to iFactory for this project because of its unique focus on design and custom development capabilities.

Slated for release in late spring 2010, Oxford Dictionaries Online will give users Oxford’s largest modern English dictionaries, thesauruses, and usage guides at their fingertips. It is positioned to be the go-to resource for definition-seekers, business professionals, writers, copyeditors, linguists, academics, students, teachers, non-native speakers, puzzle enthusiasts, and “wordies.” Key features and benefits of the service will include a quick search, an innovative A-Z wordwheel, and audio pronunciations. Users will be able to select U.S. or World English, giving users the context they need in a single click.

The selection of PubFactory for Oxford Dictionaries Online continues a long-standing relationship between iFactory and OUP. Among some of the Web design and development projects where OUP has partnered with iFactory are Oxford Biblical Studies Online, Oxford Language Dictionaries Online, and the Oxford Dictionary of National Biography, which received an International Information Industry Award for “Best User Experience.”
